SUNDAY MONTHLY MEETINGS COURSE NO.1 Start 10.00a.m (mornings only) places available

Meeting at various places around Dorset and West Hampshire, to look at the variety of habitats
that our area has to offer and the different birds that use them.

Each week during autumn we will be looking at different habitats for birds and wildlife in
Dorset, West Hampshire and the New Forest. We combine our favourite birding places like
Keyhaven and Blashford in Hampshire and the Poole Harbour area with new walks so that we
can bring you an interesting and varied programme.


WEDNESDAY MORNINGS Start 10.00a.m. Cost £52 for 7 weeks.

FIELD TRIPS.

BLASHFORD LAKES Sunday 31st August 09.30 - 12.00 Cost £6 per person Places available
Spend the morning with us exploring the delights of this superb Hampshire Wildlife Trust Reserve. With bird hides overlooking the lakes and woodland there is always something to see.

PORTLAND & WEYMOUTH AWAY DAY Sunday 14th September 10.00 - 15.30Cost £12 per person Places available
This is a wonderful time of year for migrants and seabirds, we will spend the morning on Portland Bill, lunchtime at Ferrybridge and finish at either Radipole or Lodmoor RSPB Reserve. Anything can turn up at this time of year so come and see what's around.

MIGRATION AT HENGISTBURY HEAD Saturday 27th September 08.00 - 10.30 Cost £6 per person
Join us on a walk on Hengisbury Head looking for autumn migrants, this area has so much to offer bordering Christchurch Harbour, with woodland, grassland and coast.

STUDLAND Thursday 2nd October 09.30-13.30 Cost £8 per person
Looking over Poole Harbour, Shell and Studland Bay and on to Ballard Down for autumn migrants and early arrival winter vistiors. We may have some visible migration of finches and certainly some waders and maybe even some early geese, duck and grebes.

PURBECKS - meeting at Worth Matravers Saturday 18th October 09.30-13.30 Cost £8 per person
A walk for late autumn migrants. This is a good time to watch warblers and other birds make their way through the Winspit valley and hopefully we will catch up with Ring Ouzels and a few birds of p rey. Highlights last year included Tree Sparrow, Black Redstart, Merlin and Peregrine. Please note that this walk will be very hilly.

WADER INDENTIFICATION MORNING AT KEYHAVEN
Thursday 6th November 09.30-12.30 Cost £7 per person
Do you find waders confusing, would like to know how to tell Black-tailed Godwit from Bar-tailed Godwit, Grey Plover from Golden Plover and what about those little waders like Dunlin? Well join us for a more in-depth identification morning.

HAMPTON RIDGE AND PITTS WOOD Saturday 22nd November 09.00-12.00 Cost £7 per person
In the New Forest near Fordingbridge, this walk will take over heathland and through woodland, we may see Dartford Warbler, winter thrushes, perhaps even Great Grey Shrike and Hen Harrier.

CALSHOT SPIT Sunday 30th November 09.30-12.30 Cost £7 per person
Calshot Spit overlooks Southampton Water and the western Solent with saltmarsh and shoreline. We should find waterfowl, waders and gulls here and maybe Peregrine and Merlin. This area has also been good in the past for Black Redstart and Dartford Warbler.
