29th August
Little to report for today but thanks goes to Martin Bennet who has sent in a excellent photograph of the Great White Egret which has been spending much of it's time around Ivy Lake since it's return.

23rd August
We had luck today our visit to Pennington Marsh turned up trumps with the group having excellent views of a juvenile Grey Phalarope on the Fishtail lagoon. Unfortunately it was to far away even to digiscope today, but I managed a shot of a tatty Wall Brown and a Migrant Hawker Dragonfly which I have to admit I misidentified at the time.

On the 10th August we visited Titchfield, the weather was not ideal but we had some luck

Small Skipper, Ringlet and Silverwashed Fritillary three of the species seen on our walk at Bentley Wood

4th July
At Acres Down this morning provided me with a few shots of this young Adder the first I've seen this year.

At Keyhaven this afternoon this young Mute Swan family posed very well, as did this juvenile male Stonechat.

We came across this male Linnet sheltering from the wind behind the gorse. A good number of Curlew were out on the marsh presumably non-breeding birds that have returned to winter in the area, some giving us close views.

28th June
Out and about with a group in the New Forest today I managed a few shots

Purple Hairstreak sunbathing on the bracken and a Mottled Beauty (moth) showing how good it is at camouflage

Wild Gladiolus a nationally rare plant usually pollinated by the Large Skipper Butterfly

A photograph sent in today showing male and female Orange-tip butterflies, not often can you get both to pose for the camera particularly on a hot day.

The two photograph above were a couple of mine taken on the day which I was fairly pleased with until Malcolm sent me the two following shot that he digiscoped the next day.

Well Martin has sent us a few more of his photographs taken around the New Forest and I think you'll agree these are some cracking shots.

The selection of photograph below are of birds from Blashford or of birds close by in the forest all of them were taken by and are the copyright of Martin Bennet a local birder and photographer who has kindly allowed me to put them on this page.

A resting Nightjar, it just shows you how good camouflage they have, and a Redshank on the edge of Ibsley Water.

Photographs from our Portland & Weymouth day on the 25th April

I managed to capture a nice sequence of shot of these Razorbills becoming amorous, Shag, Little Owl taken at Portland and very young Coot taken at Lodmoor.

20th April

Our monthly Sunday walk today was on the Isle of Purbeck and the morning produced a few migrants with Whitethroats and Blackcap in Winspit Valley and many Swallows coming in off the sea and moving on inland. Little in the way of photographic opportunities though I did manage a shot of this Wren, one of several which were very evident today singing all along the valley.

15th April

Today we walked around Keyhaven and Pennington Marshes in really excellent weather and I managed a few photographs. A pair of Common Gulls were just a little too far away to get a good shot, but the Black-tailed Godwit and the Redshank posed very nicely. The male Reed Bunting and the Shovelers were also very nice to see in photographic range.

This photograph was taken by Jackie through our kitchen window today 10th April. This male Sparrowhawk had caught a Starling which was severely pinned to the ground. But before Jackie could take a second shot he flew off with it's lunch!
